They all have are powered, usually, by young men who have a decent amount of strength. These men start the rides off slowly at first, to help them gain momentum. With each push and pull, the ride slowly picks up speed until the men no longer need to push them to go faster.
Watching them stop the rides is just as amazing. They will usually either crawl up onto them, or hang from the neck of the others. Using their weight and strength, they are able to slow the ride down until they can safely grab it from the ground.

That's so awesome that they have rides! I don't remember every seeing any when we went on field trips in elementary. Also very cool that they are man operated.
